WordPress Attachment handling is Pathetic.

The ability to upload media (any media mp3,jpg,png,txt …) and then attach that media to different posts or unattach it and re-attach to another post is not there at all in WordPress, in fact the attachment handling is pathetic.

I run an Online Training Website that us based on many courses, many lessons, many exercises. A lot of the media required for the courses, lessons and exercises are re-used over and 0ver again.

I have a “Resource Tab” for each lesson that lists available Video, Audio, PDF and other media files. Now since some lessons require the same media files, I would like to use media file over and over again.

ResourceTab

In the default install of WordPress that is not possible.
I used to use phpMyAdmin to copy a row (containing the media I wanted to reuse) of the POST table, and simply give it the new post->ID of the other post I wanted the media to re-attach to – awkward.

Until I found “Wp-Better-Attachments“.
My problems where over, just like that.

It allows you to add/edit/attach/un-attach/delete/sort the files attached to your WordPress posts all from the post editor. Integrates seamlessly with WordPress using the default WordPress attachments type, full control over cropping of the different attachment image sizes crop editor and no configuration needed to add WP Better Attachments to custom post types.
